Welcome To The City Of Matlosana Website
Klerksdorp/Tshepong hospital in its endeavour to encourage public to register as organ donors, undertakes an aggressive education and information campaign on organs donation.
The aim is to change the minds and attitudes of the
people towards organ donation and organ transplant thereby increasing the number of donors, and successful transplant.
As we know,it always begins at home, Ms. Fifi Xukhwane, who is the Transplant Coordinator started the campaign in Klerksdorp, Tshepong Hospital by encouraging health workers to lead by example and register to donate organs.
Fifi also went to Vusellela Colleges, and will visit the City Mall, Municipality, and churches etc. So far, the response has been overwhelming but with more campaigns of this nature people will be more knowledgeable and informed as organ donation of one person can save up to seven lives.
Many people die in coma due to injuries as a result of road accidents, others die of natural causes with healthy organs that could be donated to those who have chronic illnesses due to diseases like kidney failure; liver; heart diseases etc. Yet they die with organs that could be valuable in saving the lives of others.
Currently Klerksdorp Hospital Complex has 97 kidney patients who are on dialysis programme,60 are on Heamo Dialysis and 37 Peritonial dialysis, whilst those kidney patient who are waiting for kidney transplant are 33.
